What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file (or, in our case, a small entry in your browser's local storage) that a website may save on your device. They are commonly used to remember preferences, keep you logged in, or — less innocently — to track what you do across the web.
The one we use
| Name | Purpose | Type | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| jwf_cookie_ok_v1 | Remembers that you have dismissed the cookie banner so we do not show it again. | Essential / functional | 12 months |
What we do not use
- No Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom or any other analytics platform.
- No Facebook Pixel, Twitter pixel, TikTok pixel, or any other social-media tracker.
- No advertising cookies. We do not run advertising.
- No third-party fundraising-platform cookies. We do not currently use a third-party donations platform.
- No A/B testing or behavioural-analytics cookies.
If any of that changes — for example, if we add a payment processor whose own cookies are required — we will say so plainly here and will ask for your consent first.
Third-party content
Two third-party services are embedded on the site and may set their own cookies if you interact with them:
- OpenStreetMap, used to show the map on our contact page. OSM does not set tracking cookies on its embed iframe, but its own privacy policy applies.
- Google Fonts, used to load the EB Garamond and IBM Plex typefaces. Google's terms apply when the font is loaded; we have set
display=swapso the site remains readable while the font loads.
How to control cookies
You can clear or block cookies and local storage from your browser's site-data settings at any time. Doing so on this site will simply mean the cookie banner appears again the next time you visit; nothing else changes.
How to complain
If you are concerned about anything to do with cookies on this site, please write to [email protected]. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If we add a new cookie, we will update this page, refresh the cookie banner, and ask again. The date below is when we last updated this policy.
